This hike does require permits / a parking fee. When parking, the caves are a short walk from the parking lot. Make sure on the way to clean your shoes, and do not smoke, eat food, bring pets, or collect rocks in the caves to help preserve their delicate ecosystem. Upon arriving to the entrance of the caves, you will be required to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the entrance. Once entering in the caves, make sure to have some sort of light. Look for the sign to find the lower cave system. Within the cave, there are small cracks on the floor, so make sure you watch where you are going. The caves also can be cold and have gust of wind, so make sure to bring a light jacket / sweatshirt, and pants to stay warm.

Buy trail passes here:

https://www.wta.org/go-outside/passes

The lower cave trail of the Ape Caves is a perfect hike for a family.
